London Oratory Schola tour to Venice, July 2023

The boys of the London Oratory Schola will be touring Venice, Italy in July 2023. During the course of the tour there will be two concerts, the first at the Church of San Moisè, in the San Marco district, on Wednesday 19 July at 5pm. The programme, entitled Sacred Treasures of Spain & England, will include works by featured on the Schola’s recordings by composers including Victoria, Guerrero, Esquivel, Philips, Tallis, Dering and Byrd. The concert, promoted by the Association Musicale Lambarena, will last approximately one hour and admission is free.

The second concert will take place at the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, in the San Polo district, on Friday 21 July at 9pm. The programme, Sacred Treasures of Venice, will include music featured on the Schola’s next CD release for Hyperion, including music by Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Croce, Finetti, Merulo and Bassano. The concert, promoted by the Frari Church, will last one hour and admission is free.

The Schola will be singing at the Vigil Mass at St Mark’s Basilica on Saturday 22 July at 6.45pm and Mass at the Frari on Sunday 23 July at midday. More information can be found in the tour programme which can be downloaded here.
