Short film: Choir of London’s 2012 Bursary Scheme

October 24, 2012

During August 2012 four young Palestinian musicians came to London on the Choir of London’s Bursary Scheme. Ever since its first tour to Palestine in 2004, the Choir of London has been engaged in supporting Music Schools and young musicians in the West Bank. Violist Marina Eichberg (18) from Bethlehem, violinist Naji Alali Esrawee (14) from Jenin, violinist Sama Tarazi (15) from Jerusalem, and pianist Sasha Khoury (16) from Ramallah were chosen by audition to take part in the scheme, in partnership with the British Council, during which they attended residential music courses and worked with musicians from the Choir of London. Their visit culminated in a wonderful concert with the Choir of London at London’s Mosaic Rooms. The Choir of London has now released a tremendously inspiring short film about the 2012 scheme featuring interviews with the participants as well as the Choir’s founders, John Harte and Michael Stevens, which you can watch below.
